F.H. Paschen - Case Study

The Pony Bent was designed by our customer to support an overhead set of train tracks with active rails. The idea was brought to life by the creative manufacturing support of Sterling Lumber Company, whose production team is up to any challenge. The design concept was easy for our customer, but the construciton was outside of their scope of excellence, but right smack-in-the-middle of ours.

The challenges involved were:

  • Cutting accurate angles on 12" x 12" timbers

  • Tolerance for the Pony Bent was +-1/2" on all dimensions.

  • The Pony Bent was sloped by 3" from one end to the other.

  • Drawings only showed the overall concept, not the construction methods.
